This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard was proposed by and shall be under the jurisdiction of National
Technical Committee 280 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants of Standardization
Administration of China, Inorganic Chemical Industry Branch (SAC/TC 280).

Classification of Automotive
Service Lubricating Greases
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the classification of automotive service lubricating greases.
This Standard is applicable to lubricating greases for automotive chassis, hub bearing
and automotive accessories.
2 Code Description
2.1 The classification of automotive service lubricating greases is determined in
accordance with the product classification requested by main application occasions of
lubricating greases on automotive.
2.2 Each type of automotive service lubricating greases shall be represented by a code
constituted of a group of capitalized English letters. Please refer to Table 1 for the
meaning of the letters.

operated under intermediate to
heavy load. If bearing temperature
is relatively high, heavy load shall
be considered.
The operation of this type of
vehicles is as follows.
Frequent starts-stops (such as
buses, taxies and urban police
cars, etc.) or strong braking (such
as trailers, heavy-loaded vehicles
and other vehicles operated in
mountainous areas, etc.)
This type of lubricating greases has resistance of
oxidation, evaporation and thinning consistence.
It can prevent bearings from corrosion and
abrasion; it also has satisfying rubber
compatibility.
Operating temperature range shall be -40 °C ~
160 °C, and it will occasionally reach 200 °C;
Generally speaking, lubricating greases with 2#
consistence are recommended; lubricating
greases with 1# or 3 # consistence can also be
adopted.
Universal Lubricating Greases for Chassis and Hub Bearing
GC-LB
Applicable to buses, taxies and
urban police cars, trailers, heavy-
loaded vehicles, and passenger
vehicles, trucks and other vehicles
operated in mountainous areas
under intermediate to heavy load.
The performance of this type of lubricating
greases can simultaneously reach the
performance of lubricating greases for Category-
LB chassis and Category-GC hub bearings.
Lubricating Greases for Automotive Accessories
PR
Applicable to rotatory bearings,
such as alternator bearings, clutch
release bearings, electromagnetic
clutch bearings for air
conditioners, water pump
bearings and engine belt
tensioner bearings.
This type of lubricating greases has a long
service life and low noise emission; resistance to
abrasion and rust; it satisfies variable-speed
operation at an extremely high accelerated
speed;
Operating temperature range shall be -40 °C ~
180 °C;
Maximum rotating speed can reach 18,000 r/min;
Generally speaking, lubricating greases with 2#
consistence are recommended; lubricating
greases with other grades of consistence can
also be adopted.
