1 Scope
This standard specifies the method for the determination of mineral oil content in food simulants by gas chromatography.
This standard applies to mineral spirits in food simulants (water, 3% acetic acid, 10% ethanol and isooctane) in contact with food contact paper and paperboard.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Mineral oil saturated hydrocarbon mineral oilsaturatedhydrocarbons; MOSH
Saturated open chain alkanes and cycloalkanes, including linear, branched saturated alkanes and alkyl substituted cyclic saturated alkanes.
3.2
Mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbon mineraloilaromatichydrocarbons; MOAH
Highly alkylated monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon or polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon.
4 Principle
The food simulant obtained by the migration test is extracted and enriched by n-hexane, and the MOSH portion of the mineral oil is separated and eluted by a solid phase extraction column.
The MOAH part was concentrated and constant volume, and determined by gas chromatography flame ionization detector (FID) and quantitatively calculated by internal standard.

Unless otherwise specified, the reagents used were of analytical grade and the water was the first grade water specified in GB/T 6682.
5.1 Reagents
5.1.1 Silica gel. 0.060mm~0.200mm, muffle furnace baked at 400 °C for 24h.
