1 Scope

This standard specifies the six types of machining methods commonly used in planing, sanding, drilling, milling, boring and turning. Program and its processing performance evaluation method. This standard applies to different types of wood, various shapes of solid wood sawn timber.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Chip indentation chipmark The shallow indentations produced by the machined surface. 3.2 Feed speed feedspeed The length (m) of the material being processed through the processing equipment per unit time (s). 3.3 Rough pattern raisedgrain A rough machined surface formed by a portion of the harder, longer wood portion of the softer wood portion that is not completely separated from the surface. 3.4 Burr fuzzygrain A small particle or bundle of fibers standing upright on the machined surface without being completely cut. 3.5 Burr groove The part of the wood that has been torn to the surface. 3.6 Surface roughness surfaceroughness The machined surface has a small pitch and a small peak-to-valley unevenness, also called microscopic unevenness, which is a micro-geometric error.
