This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces LY/T 1503-1999 "Processing Wood Pillows".
Compared with LY/T 1503-1999, the main technical changes of this standard are as follows.
---Adjusted the tree species;
--- Change the ratio of the decay area to the cross-sectional area of the gauge diameter to the decay diameter and the gauge diameter;
--- tightened the limits of bending;
--- Increased sampling methods and product marks.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements, sampling methods, inspection methods, volume calculation and product identification of pillows.
This standard is applicable to logs for the processing of ordinary wooden pillows for railway standard rails.

3 Technical requirements
3.1 Tree species
Larch, P. massoniana Lamb., P. yunnanensis Franc, Spruce,
Fir, Hemlock, Pinus sylvestris (P.syluestrisvar.mongolicaLitv.), Pinus radiata (P.radiata), Liquidambar formosana
(L.formosanaHance), birch (B.utilisD.Don) and other suitable species.
3.2 size
3.2.1 Length of gauge. 2.5m, 5.0m, 7.5m.
3.2.2 Inspection diameter. from 26cm or more, press 2cm to upgrade.
3.2.3 Long tolerances allow 6-2cm.
3.3 Limitation of defects
The allowable limits of defects are shown in Table 1.
