The species group and nut economic traits divide the national chestnut distribution into six cultivation areas.
3.1 North China Cultivation Area
Including the Yanshan Mountains, the northern and southwestern parts of the Taihang Mountains, the northern part of Tianjin, the Hebei Province, the northern part of Henan Province, and the Shandong Mountains
The province is located in the Taimu Mountain, Luzhongnan and Jiaodong areas, the southern part of Henan Province in the Dabie Mountain-Tongbai Mountain-Funi Mountain Range, the northern part of Jiangsu Province and the southern part of Shanxi Province.
3.2 Middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River
These include the Hubei Province of the Yangtze River Basin, the Dabie Mountain Area of Anhui Province and the Weinan Mountain Area, the southern part of Jiangsu Province and the northwestern part of Zhejiang Province.
3.3 Northwest Cultivation Area
These include the Qinling-Bashan mountainous area in Shaanxi Province, the southern part of Gansu Province, the northern part of Sichuan Province, the northwestern part of Hubei Province, and the western part of Henan Province.
3.4 Southeast cultivation area
Including the eastern and southern parts of Zhejiang Province, the southeastern part of Jiangxi Province, the northern and southwestern parts of Fujian Province, the northern part of Guangdong Province and the northeastern part of the country, Guangxi Zhuang
