The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
cognition
The human brain receives external information, processes it, and transforms it into internal psychological activities, thereby acquiring or applying knowledge.
Note. Cognition includes learning and memory, language, executive function, complex attention, perceptual-motor function, and social cognitive function.
3.2
Cognitive impairment
One or more cognitive domains are impaired or experience functional decline.

Cognitive impairment refers to the impairments in perception, thought content, mood, and behavior experienced by older adults.
Note. Psychiatric symptoms include anxiety, depression, verbal or physical aggression, wandering, repetitive speech, screaming, sleep disturbances, delusions, and hallucinations.

4.1 Respect and Understanding
Respect the lifestyle, personality, outlook on life, and values of elderly people with cognitive impairment; understand their feelings and behaviors; and pay attention to their physiological and psychological needs.
