Foreword
This Standard is a revision of GB 5711-85 according to ISO 105-D01.1993 "Textiles -
tests for colour fastness - Part D01. Colour fastness to dry cleaning". The revised
version is equivalent to ISO 105-01.1993.
The format of front cover and title are revised according to GB/T 1.1-1993. Adopt ISO
foreword; add foreword; Delete the Additional Explanation and merge its contents into
the foreword.
This Standard revises the following content of GB 5711-85.
1. Unit of length is changed into mm.
2. According to ISO, the required contents of test report are added with - standard
serial number; sample specifications;
3. For the convenience of use, add Annex A “Instruments and Equipment”.
This Standard replaces GB 5711-85, from the implementation date.
This Standard was proposed by China Textile Association.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of Standardization Research Institute of
China Textile Association
This Standard is responsibly drafted by Standardization Research Institute of China
Textile Association, Shanghai Textile Standard Measurement Institute, and Shanghai
Wool & Jute Textile Research Institute.

This Standard was first-time issued in 1985.

Textiles - Tests for colour fastness - Colour fastness to
dry cleaning
1 Scope
1.1 This Standard specifies a method for determining the colour fastness to dry
cleaning of all kinds of textiles.
1.2 This method is not suitable for the evaluation of the durability of the textile finishes,
nor is it intended for use in evaluating the resistance of colour to spot and stain
removal procedures used by the dry-cleaner.
1.3 This method covers colour fastness to dry cleaning only; commercial dry-cleaning
practice involves other operations such as water spotting, solvent spotting, steam
pressing, etc. , for which other standard test methods are available if the full "dry
cleanability" of the textile is to be assessed.
1.4 the presence of absorbed water in either the fabric or the dry-cleaning solution, or
the presence of a detergent and water in the dry-cleaning solution, has not been
found to be a critical factor in assessing colour fastness. This test gives results which
correlate satisfactorily with those obtained in commercial dry cleaning.
1.5 fastness to dry cleaning, without further qualification, means fastness to dry
cleaning in chloroethylene. However, if required, other solvents may be used.
2 Normative Standards
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text,
constitute provisions of this Standard. At the time of publication, the editions indicated
were valid. All standards are subject to revision, and Parties concerned are
encouraged to discuss the possibility of applying the latest edition of the following
standards.

Instruments and equipment
The applicable test equipment of this Standard are SW-12, SW-8, SW-4 colour
fastness to washing testing machines. The details are shown in “scientific and
technical research achievements of the State Scientific and Technological
Commission, registration number 800740, classification number TS, 190, 92”.
