Common Colors
1 Scope
This Standard stipulates the names, color systems and typical chromaticity
coordinates of Chinese common colors, as well as the mark numbers of Chinese color
systems, and standard samples of Chinese common colors.
This Standard is applicable to the determination of color naming and chromaticity
coordinates of common colors. It is also applicable to color correction and information
communication during color reproduction and representation in relevant fields.

terms of references with a specified date, only versions with a specified date are
applicable to this document. In terms of references without a specified date, the latest

3 Terms and Definitions
What is defined in GB/T 5698, and the following terms and definitions are applicable
to this document.
3.1 Chinese Common Colors
Chinese common colors refer to the colors that can often be seen in Chinese daily life.
4 Names, Color Systems and Typical Chromaticity
Coordinates of Chinese Common Colors, Mark
Numbers of Chinese Color Systems
4.1 Chinese common colors are divided into chromatic system and achromatic system.
Specifically speaking, chromatic system includes eight color tones, namely, brown, red,
orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue and purple, as well as Chinese people’s skin color
and metal color.
4.2 Please refer to Appendix A for typical chromaticity coordinates of Chinese common
colors and mark numbers of Chinese color systems.
4.3 The measurement conditions of chromaticity coordinates of Chinese common
colors shall comply with methods for the measurement of object color in GB/T 3979.
Conduct the measurement under D65 standard illuminants and de:8 geometric
conditions described in GB/T 3978. Through CIE1964 standard colorimetric system
described in GB/T 3977, conduct specification of colors.
4.4 Mark numbers of Chinese color systems of Chinese common colors shall be
calculated in accordance with the stipulations in GB/T 15608.
5 Standard Samples of Chinese Common Colors
5.1 Standard samples of Chinese common colors are constituted of color samples of
corresponding color names and chromaticity values.
5.2 Tolerance of sample color difference in standard samples of Chinese common
colors: chromatic system ; achromatic system . Color difference
shall be calculated in accordance with the stipulations in GB/T 7921.
5.3 Visual color appraisal conditions of standard samples of Chinese common colors
shall comply with the stipulations in GB/T 15610.
