GB 4706 “Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances” is composed of several parts. Part 1 is general requirements and the other parts are special requirements. This Part is part 13 of GB 4706. This Part shall be used in combination with GB 4706.1-2005 “Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances: Part 1: General Requirements”. This Part is drafted according to the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Part replaces GB 4706.13-2008 “Household and Similar Electrical Appliances – Safety - Part 2-24: Particular Requirements for Refrigerating Appliances, Ice-cream appliances and Ice-makers”. Main differences between this Part and GB 4706.13-200 are as follows: -- The definition of “household or similar use” was defined in the scope of Chapter 1: “- It refers to the refrigerating appliances used in the staff kitchens of stores, offices and other working environments; - The refrigerating appliances used on the farm, and the refrigerating appliances used by hotel guests, motel guests, and guests living in other environments; - The refrigerating appliances used in family-type inn environments; - The refrigerating appliances used in catering services and other similar non-retail purposes.” -- Chapter 1: The contents of Item 9, Note 2 “the refrigerating appliances (GB 4706.102) with set-in or remote-set refrigerating fluid condensing unit or compressor” were added in the scope of Chapter 1. -- Some normative references were updated in the scope of Chapter 2; -- The definition of 3.112, 3.113, 3.114, 3.115 and 3.116 was added in the scope of Chapter 3; -- The Item 5 in 7.1 was modified to be “the maximum rated power input of the lamp” (W) (It will be not applicable if the lamp is a part of the instrument and can only be replaced by the manufacturer)” in Chapter 7; -- “The warning: fire danger” in 7.1, 7.14 and 7.15 was modified to be “fire danger/combustible material” in Chapter 7; -- The marking requirements were added in 7.6 of Chapter 7; -- The “warning: it can only be filled with drinking water” is modified to be “warning: it can only be filled / top-up with drinking water” in 7.12 of Chapter 7; -- The following contents were added in 7.12 of Chapter 7: “It is not allowed to keep explosives such as combustion-supporting spray in the appliance. If the symbol of ISO 7000-1701(2004-01) is employed, its meaning shall be given. It should include the following contents in the specifications: This appliance is for household and similar uses, for example: - In kitchens of shops, offices and other working environments; - By customers on the farm, hotel, motel, and other residential environments; - In family-type inn environment; - For catering services and similar non-retail uses; Note 104: It shall be clearly specified in instructions if the manufacturer wants to impose restrictions on the scope of application of the appliances.” -- Chapter 7: The first sentence in 7.12.1 is modified to be “if the lamp can be replaced by the customer, then the way to do it shall be included in instructions.”; -- Chapter 7: The 7.101 is modified to be “if the appliance is battery-powered, then there shall be clear marks on the power-supply terminal or terminal device used for connecting the battery. The symbol 5005 in GB/T 5465.2-2008 shall be marked as the positive pole; and the symbol 5006 shall be marked as the negative pole. ”; -- Chapter 19: The 19.104 is modified to be “whether it is qualified or not will be tested through the following test: under the condition of the lamp circuit keeping working and the appliance being no-load, close the refrigerating system or make it not operate, open the door or cover, keep it in the most unfavorable position, or close it and choose the most unfavorable condition. ”; -- Chapter 22: The structural requirements of appliance for applying trans-critical refrigerating system was added in 22.103; -- The contents of 22.107.3 was added in Chapter 22; The 22.107 is modified to be “whether it is qualified is confirmed through visual inspection and tests of 22.107, 22.107.2, if necessary, to conduct the test of 22.107.3. ”; -- Chapter 22: “simulated leakage shall be made when refrigerating circuit is the most close to the pipeline or at any point of the entrance of the cable entering buttery, if the refrigerating circuit does not meet corrosion requirements of 22.107.3” was added in 22.107.1; -- Chapter 22: The continuous testing time of the test in 22.107.1 is modified to be “take a measurement of the concentration of leakage refrigerating fluid inside and outside of the buttery at least every 30 seconds from the beginning of the test to the end of the gas injection which lasts at least 24 hours during the whole period”; -- Add contents to 22.111; -- Change 22.111~22.114 in previous standard to 22.112~22.115; -- Add requirements of accessible glass panel in 22.116; -- Chapter 23: Add bending strength test in 23.3; -- Chapter 24: Add requirements of explosive pressure-release device in 24.1.4; -- Modify the chapter and section number of related contents of normative appendix CC “’n’ type non-sparking electrical appliances”; -- Add informative annex DD “reasonable production specifications of compression-type appliances in employing flammable refrigerant”. This Part uses translation method and equivalently adopts IEC 60335-2-24:2012 “Household and Similar Electrical Appliances – Safety - Part 2-24: Particular Requirements for Refrigerating Appliances, Ice-cream appliances and Ice-makers”. Our country’s documents that have consistency corresponding relation with international documents normatively referred in this Part are as follows: -- GB/T 2423.17-2008 Environmental test for electric and electronic products - Part 2: Test method - Test Ka: Salt mist (IEC 60068-2-11:1981, IDT) -- GB/T 2423.55-2006 Environmental test for electric and electronic products - Part 2: Test method - Test Eh: Hammer test (IEC 60068-2-75:1997, IDT) -- GB 3836.8-2003 Electrical equipment in explosive gas atmosphere - Part 8: "n" style electrical equipment (IEC 60079-15:2001, IDT) -- GB 9237-2001 Refrigeration and heating with mechanical refrigeration systems - Safety requirements (eqv ISO 5149:1993) -- GB 14536.7-2010 Household and similar use electric automatic controller - Special requirements of pressure sensitive electrical automatic controller, including mechanical requirements (IEC 60730-2-6:2007, IDT) Please note that some contents in this document may involve patents. The issuing Household and similar electrical appliances – Safety - Particular requirements for refrigerating appliances, ice-cream appliances and ice-makers 1 Scope This clause of GB 4706.1-2005 is replaced by the following. This Part of GB 4706 deals with the safety of the following appliances, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances, 480 V for other appliances and 24 V d.c. for appliances when battery operated. - refrigerating appliances for household and similar use; - ice-makers incorporating a motor-compressor and ice-makers intended to be incorporated in frozen food storage compartments; - refrigerating appliances and ice-makers for use in camping, touring caravans and boats for leisure purposes. These appliances may be operated from the mains, from a separate battery or operated either from the mains or from a separate battery. This Part also deals with the safety of ice-cream appliances intended for household use, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. It also deals with compression-type appliances for household and similar use, which use flammable refrigerants. This Part does not cover features of the construction and operation of those refrigerating appliances which are dealt with in other standards. Refrigerating appliances not intended for normal household use but which nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, such as - refrigerating appliances used in staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments, - refrigerating appliances used in farm houses and by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments, - refrigerating appliances used in family inn-type environment, and - the appliance being operated under normal operation except that user adjustable temperature controls are set to give the lowest temperature. Addition: The appliance is operated for a period of 1 h or the maximum setting of an incorporated timer whichever is shorter. Excluding starting current, the maximum value of the current averaged over any 5 min period is obtained. The interval between current measurements shall not exceed 30 s. NOTE 101: Starting current is considered to be excluded if the first current measurement is made approximately 1 min after starting. 10.101 The power input of the defrosting system shall not deviate from the defrosting power input marked on the appliance by more than the deviation shown in Table 1. Compliance is checked by operating the appliance at rated voltage and measuring the power input of the defrosting system after the power input has stabilized. 10.102 The power input of any heating system shall not deviate from the power input of these systems marked on the appliance by more than the deviation shown in Table 1. Compliance is checked by operating the appliance at rated voltage and measuring the power input of the heating system after the power input has stabilized. 11 Heating This clause of GB 4706.1-2005 is applicable, except as follows. 11.1 Modification: Compliance is checked by determining the temperature rise of the various parts under the conditions specified in 11.2 to 11.7. If the winding temperatures of motor-compressors exceed the values given in Table 101, compliance is checked by the test of 11.101. The winding temperatures of motor-compressors conforming to GB 4706.17-2010 (including its Annex AA) are not measured. 11.2 Replacement: Built-in appliances are installed in accordance with the instructions for installation. Ice-cream appliances are placed as near to the walls of the test corner as possible, unless the manufacturer indicates in the instructions for use that a free distance shall be observed from the walls, in which case, this distance is observed during the test. If means of ventilation are supplied by the manufacturer, they are mounted as intended. ......
