3 Terms and definitions

Glassmelt
Glass that exhibits liquid characteristics above its softening point temperature.
3.2
Surfacetension
The force per unit length at the tangent of the melt (liquid) and gas interface.
3.3
Sessiledropmethod
A method for measuring surface tension based on the shape parameters of the melt (liquid) forming stable ellipsoidal droplets on the surface of the horizontal pallet.

Smooth cylinder for image pixel size calibration.
4 Measuring principle
The surface tension of the glass melt is measured based on the sessile drop method. The glass melt is rotated by the combined action of gravity and surface tension on the horizontal pallet.
Axisymmetric ellipsoid (see Figure 1), the relationship between the pressure difference at any point on the surface of the ellipsoid and the surface tension is shown in equation (1).
