Test method for flexibility of ultrathin glass -
Two point bending method
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, test principles, test device,
environmental conditions, sample requirements, test steps, result calculation
and expression, and test reports for measuring the flexibility of ultrathin glass
by the two point bending method.
This Standard applies to the test of the flexibility of ultrathin glass.
2 Normative references
The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document.
For dated references, only the dated version applies to this document. For
undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this
document.
GB/T 9056, Metal ruler
GB/T 21389, Vernier, dial and digital display calipers
GB/T 34171, Test method for flexural property of thin and ultrathin glass -
Three-point bending method
3 Terms and definitions
Terms and definitions determined by GB/T 34171 and the following ones are
applicable to this document.
3.1 Ultrathin glass
Plate glass products whose thickness is not greater than 1.1 mm.
3.2 Critical radius of curvature
When the ultrathin glass is bent and deformed to the moment of damage by the
action of two points, the minimum radius of curvature corresponding to the
complete bending trajectory.
3.3 Flexibility
g) Other samples are tested according to steps e) ~ f).
9 Results calculation and expression
9.1 Result calculation
The critical radius of curvature R, which is calculated according to Formula (1),
is reserved to an integer.
Where:
R -- the average critical radius of curvature of the sample, in millimeters (mm);
R1, R2, ..., Rn -- critical radius of curvature of the sample, in millimeters (mm);
n -- number of test samples.
9.2 Result expression
The measurement result is expressed as RT = R, where T is the thickness of
the sample, in millimeters; two decimal places are retained.
Example: R0.50 = 200 mm means that for an ultra-thin glass sample whose
thickness is 0.50 mm, the critical radius of curvature of bending
failure is 200 mm.
10 Test report
The test report shall at least include the following contents:
a) standard (code of this Standard);
b) species and name of sample glass;
c) sample length, width and thickness;
d) number of samples;
e) test ambient temperature;
f) test results and relative standard deviation;
g) inspector, auditor, date;
h) other relevant information.
