Harmful phases in austenite-ferrite (duplex) stainless steel Detection Methods

1 Scope

This document specifies the test conditions, test methods and acceptance requirements for the detection of harmful phases in austenitic-ferritic (duplex) stainless steel. The methods include microstructure inspection, Charpy impact test and ferric chloride corrosion test. This document applies to austenitic-ferritic (duplex) stainless steel during production, manufacturing process (such as heat treatment or welding) or long-term exposure to a certain temperature. Use the test of precipitation of harmful phases under low temperatures. This document does not apply to conditions where the toughness and corrosion resistance of austenitic-ferritic (duplex) stainless steels are reduced due to other reasons. Note. For the product brands that this document is mainly applicable to, please refer to Appendix A.
