Summary This standard specifies the upper buckle control method for API threaded joints, and provides alternative methods other than API Spec SB (closed coils) and API RP SC1 (optimal torque). In view of the fact that the upper buckle torque and the final position are used together for the acceptance criteria of the upper buckle, the method is simply referred to as "torque-position". The joint is limited to the thread type that complies with API Spec SB. Appendix A gives the torque-to-position inspection items, precautions for operation on the rig, and some common and possible troubleshooting measures after problems are discovered on site. This standard applies to SC (short-circular threaded bushing), LC (long-circle threaded bushing), BC (partial trapezoidal threaded bushing) and EU (external thickened tubing) joints of steel grade and specification as described in Appendix B.
