1 Scope
This document defines the terms and definitions of the test methods for the physical and mechanical properties of small-diameter round bamboo, and stipulates the collection of test materials, preparation of test pieces, and test methods.
Basic provisions of the method, experimental instruments and equipment, test methods, etc.
This document is applicable to the physical and mechanical property tests of small-diameter bamboo with a breast height diameter not exceeding 50mm.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Bamboo stalks with a breast diameter not exceeding 50mm after transverse cutting.
3.2

4.Sample collection and specimen preparation
4.1 Sample collection
4.1.1 In order to obtain the basic properties of a certain bamboo material, sample materials should be collected from representative bamboo producing areas.
Collection is carried out in different areas according to different climate, geographical location, soil and other natural conditions.
4.1.2 In the bamboo forests of the collection area, select representative bamboo trees from the small-diameter bamboo forests with a diameter of less than 50 mm at breast height and no less than 100 trees.
There shall be no less than 15 samples of sexually active, mature and defect-free bamboo.
4.1.3 After the sample bamboo is felled, record the breast diameter, branch height and bamboo height. Cut upward from the whole bamboo node about 0.5m above the ground. The breast height of the selected test material is
The diameter is not more than 50mm. The length of the test material must meet the requirements of the measured performance.
4.1.4 After the test materials are cut, they should be transported in time to avoid discoloration, cracking, decay and insect infestation.
4.2 Specimen preparation
4.2.1 The test pieces are cut from left to right according to Figure 1.The length of bamboo section L1 is 300 mm, which is used to make density and shrinkage test pieces.
The length of bamboo segment L2 is twice the diameter of the big end and is used to make the parallel grain compressive strength test specimen; the length of bamboo segment L3 is 12 times the diameter of the big end and is used to make the parallel grain compressive strength test specimen.
