This document replaces GB/T 6447-1986 "Rules for Writing Abstracts". Compared with GB/T 6447-1986, except for structural adjustments and editorial
In addition to the modifications, the main technical changes are as follows.
a) Expand the scope of application to include the preparation of abstracts of literature in the natural sciences and the humanities and social sciences (see Chapter 1 of the 1986 edition);
b) Change “nouns and terms” to “terms and definitions”; change “abstract” to “report abstract”, “indicative abstract”, “report/indicative abstract”
The terms and definitions of "abstract" have been added, including "document", "primary document", "secondary document", "one-paragraph abstract", "structured abstract", "diagram", etc.
The terms and definitions of “formal abstract” and “video abstract” have been revised, and the terms and definitions of “author abstract” and “abstractor abstract” have been deleted (see Chapter 3,

c) Added key points for writing one-paragraph abstracts, structured abstracts, graphic abstracts, and video abstracts (see Chapter 6);
d) Integrate, delete, and supplement the "Notes on Writing Abstracts" into "Detailed Rules for Writing Abstracts" (see Chapter 7, 1986 Edition).

Short articles, graphics or video clips are widely used in the compilation, processing, storage and dissemination of documents.

GB/T 6447-1986 “Rules for Writing Abstracts” has been issued and implemented for nearly 40 years.
In the digital age, the content of this document on the compilation of literature abstracts needs to be revised and supplemented.
Authors urgently need the revised standardization document to guide them in writing literature abstracts. Therefore, revising GB/T 6447 has important practical significance.
This document makes necessary provisions on the length, composition, key points and detailed rules of literature abstracts.
