1 Scope
This section provides for the determination of water soluble sulfate pigment samples, Common test methods for chloride and nitrate.
Note. The general test method is applicable to specified pigment or extender pigment, as long as the inclusion of the pigment or an extender pigment product standards refer to this part of the article

3 Reagents
The reagents used were of analytical grade, use distilled water or distilled water equivalent purity water.
3.1 HCl. ρ = 1.18g/mL.
Silver nitrate 3.2. 0.01mol/L standard solution.
3.3 ammonium chloride solution. 17.2mg/L.
3.4 Sodium hydroxide solution.200g/L.
3.5 barium chloride. 50g/L.
3.6 Potassium chromate solution. 50g/L.
Deva 3.7 Jorda (Devarda) alloy powder.
3.8 Nessler (of Nessler) reagents, according to methods a) or b) Preparation.
a) 5g of potassium iodide dissolved in 3.5mL, add cold saturated mercury (HgCl2) chloride solution, stirring until pale red precipitate is generated
So far, was added and stirring was continued at 40mL of potassium hydroxide (500g/L), diluted with water to 100mL, mixing evenly, standing, and pour out
The supernatant was stored in the dark.
b) in 80mL of water was dissolved 3.5g of potassium iodide and 1.25g of mercuric chloride (HgCl2), the addition of cold saturated mercuric chloride (HgCl2) solution,
Sway to have a reddish precipitate formed, then add 12g of sodium hydroxide, shaken until dissolved, and finally add a little saturated mercuric chloride solution
Solution and diluted with water to 100mL, shaking from time to time in a few days and then allowed to settle, supernatant of the test.
4 Instrument
