introduction
GB/T 5211 is a series of standards for general test methods for pigments and extenders. Due to historical reasons, some of the standards developed in the early period were named
The unified guide element "General test methods for pigments and extenders" is not used. In addition, there are a few general test methods for pigments and extenders.
Independent standard numbers are not included in the various parts of GB/T 5211.In recent years and in the future, the formulation or revision work will be gradually straightened out and standardized.
The writing format of standard number and standard name will improve the standard system. GB/T 5211 "General test methods for pigments and extenders" is to be formulated
The correspondence between the various parts to be updated or revised and the current standards is shown in Table 1.

The terms "lightfastness" and "lightfastness (or colorfastness)" refer to the resistance of a material to changes in its appearance when exposed to light.
The size of the light (if any) is affected by the amount and quality of light that strikes the material, as well as the nature and composition of the material itself.
Two mixtures with the same components but different proportions have different light resistance; two mixtures with the same proportions but similar components but not the same
One component, light resistance is also different.
When exposed to natural light, the environment is affected by many variables (e.g., intensity and spectral distribution of natural light, temperature, relative humidity, and atmospheric
The test conditions will vary, so the test results will not be comparable to those of similar tests conducted in other settings.
Therefore, it is not advisable to simply express the result as a function of time.
The considerations described above form the basis for comparing the lightfastness of two different samples of a coloring pigment.
to components which are otherwise identical, and the two mixtures are subjected (in a suitable manner) to the same quantity and nature of light.
After exposure to the same exposure line, the mixtures were placed side by side at the same time to meet these exposure conditions.
It is necessary to expose to the same light source for the same period of time.
Furthermore, the lightfastness of pigments is affected by the presence of other pigments such as titanium dioxide. This document takes this important aspect into account and therefore
This is done using only the agreed base (vehicle) to form a single pigment dispersion and following the documented test procedure.
It is important to determine how far to allow exposure changes before comparing lightfastness.
It is not practical to assess exposure when the lightfastness of the pigment is known (commercial
When the amount of change in the grey scale (for a specific reference pigment) is consistent with levels 4 and 3 of the GB/T 250 grey scale, a comparison of the changes in appearance is made.

Part 9.Comparison of lightfastness of coloring pigments of the same type
1 Scope
This document describes a general test method for comparing the lightfastness of colouring pigments of the same type (an agreed reference pigment and a test sample).
This document provides two exposure methods. Method A, pigment dispersion samples are exposed to natural light under glass; Method B, pigment dispersion samples are exposed to natural light under glass;
The panels are exposed directly to artificial light sources.
This document applies to coloring pigments.

4 Principles
The test sample and the agreed reference pigment are dispersed in the same agreed base (medium) to prepare dispersions.
Apply to the substrate and let it dry, then expose it to natural light (Method A) or artificial light (Method B) under specified conditions with rain protection measures.
Lightfastness is assessed by comparing the color change of the test specimen with that of an agreed reference pigment.
