This document specifies the safety requirements for electric tumble dryers for household and similar use.
This document applies to household and similar appliances with a rated voltage not exceeding 250V for single-phase appliances and 480V for other appliances.

NOTE 101 This document applies to the drying function of washing machines with a drying cycle.
This document also specifies the safety requirements for tumble dryers for drying fabrics using a motor-compressor closed refrigeration system.
Flammable refrigerants may be used. Annex AA specifies additional requirements for such appliances.
This document also applies to appliances which are not intended for normal household use but which may be dangerous to the public, such as those intended for use in shops,
Tools used by non-professionals in industry and on farms.
NOTE 102 Examples of similar appliances are tumble dryers used in public settings such as apartment buildings or laundries.
