4 Principles of the Method
Qualitative analysis. If there is chlorate in the sample, dissolve it in water and then use the special color development of aniline hydrochloride under strong acidic conditions.
The reaction detects the presence of chlorate.
Quantitative analysis. After extracting the sample with ethanol, the chlorate is dissolved in hot water and reacted completely with excess ammonium ferrous sulfate solution.
Use potassium dichromate standard solution to titrate the remaining content of ammonium ferrous sulfate in the sample solution.
The initial chlorate content in the sample test solution is calculated from the difference between the volume of the standard solution and the volume of potassium dichromate consumed in the blank titration.
The solution in the white titration contains the same amount of ferrous ammonium sulfate as was added to the sample test solution.
5 Security Requirements
Laboratory operations should comply with appropriate safety requirements. especially for flammable, explosive, highly toxic and other hazardous materials and samples, as well as strong
