1.Scope
This document specifies the designation method, ordering details, manufacturing process, technical requirements, test methods, and inspection rules for welding steel wire rods.
Packaging, labeling, and quality certificates.
This document applies to the manufacture of welding materials for applications such as shielded metal arc welding, submerged arc welding, electroslag welding, gas shielded welding, laser hybrid welding, and additive manufacturing.
Steel wire rod for use (hereinafter referred to as "wire rod").

4.Brand designation method
The grade of steel wire rod for welding consists of four parts.
a) Part 1.The first letter of the pinyin for "welding steel" is H (capitalized);
b) Part Two. Carbon Content (mass fraction);
c) Part Three. Major Alloying Elements, listed in the following order. Mn, Si, Cr, Ni, Mo, Cu, V, Ti, B, Zr, Al, excluding those not listed.
The elements are arranged in order of their abundance, following the position of Al.
d) Part Four. Steel Metallurgical Quality. In this section, high-grade premium steel and extra-premium premium steel are represented by A and E respectively.
High-quality steel is not represented by letters.
Example 1.H08MnSiNiCu.
H --- "Welding steel";
08 --- Carbon content (mass fraction);
MnSiNiCu --- Main alloying elements.
Example 2.H08MnSiCrNiCuA.
H --- "Welding steel";

5.Order details
Contracts for orders placed in accordance with this document should include at least the following.
a) Product Name;
b) This document number;
c) Brand;
d) Specifications;
e) Delivery status;
f) Delivery weight (or quantity);
g) Special requirements.
6.Manufacturing process
6.1 Smelting Method
Steel for wire rod is usually smelted in an oxygen converter or electric furnace.
6.2 Delivery Status
The wire rod is delivered in hot-rolled condition, but may also be delivered in annealed, isothermal heat-treated, or other conditions upon agreement between the supplier and the buyer.
7 Technical Requirements
7.1 Grade and Chemical Composition
7.1.1 The grade and chemical composition (finished product analysis) of wire rod shall conform to the provisions of Table 1.
7.1.2 The supplier shall guarantee that the chemical composition (finished product analysis) of the wire rod conforms to the specifications in Table 1, subject to agreement between the supplier and the buyer and specified in the contract.
Delivery is based on chemical composition (smelting analysis).
7.1.3 Other grades and chemical compositions of wire rods may be supplied upon agreement between the supplier and the buyer, and as specified in the contract.
7.2 Surface Quality
7.2.1 The head and tail of the wire rod should be cut off, and its cross-section should be free of shrinkage cavities, delamination and inclusions.
7.2.2 The surface of the wire rod should be smooth and free from defects that are harmful to its use, such as cracks, folds, burrs, and scars. Localized indentations, bumps, pits, etc., are also acceptable.
Scratches and pitting should not exceed 0.10 mm in depth or height (measured from the actual dimensions).
