Foreword
This document was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020
"Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of
standardizing documents".
This document replaces GB/T 5235-2007 "Wrought nickel and nickel alloys - Chemical
composition and forms of wrought products". Compared with GB/T 5235-2007, in
addition to the structural and editorial changes, the main technical changes in this
document are as follows:
a) Delete examples, names and groups of product shape (see Table 1 of Edition 2007);
b) Add the category of alloy designations; Add 24 designations of nickel-based
superalloys and corrosion-resistant alloys (see Table 1 and Table A.1 of this
Edition).
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be
the subject of patent rights. The issuing authority shall not be held responsible for
identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document was proposed by China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.
This document shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Non-
ferrous Metals of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 243).
The drafting organizations of this document: Chinalco Shenyang Nonferrous Metals
Processing Co., Ltd., Baotai Group Co., Ltd., Shenyang Nonferrous Metals Research
Institute Co., Ltd., Shenyang Nonferrous Metals Processing Co., Ltd.
Main drafters of this document: Zhang Ye, Dai Shan, Wang Li, Ding Wuzhou, Yu
Binghong, Zhang Guimin, Dong Yanxia, Liu Jiatao, Cheng Wei, Li Tingting, Yuan
Shuai, Xu Ziqiao.
Versions of standard substituted by this document are:
- It was issued as GB/T 5235-1985 for the first time in 1985. It was GB/T 5235-2007
when it was revised in 2007 for the first time;
- This is the second revision.
Designation and chemical composition of wrought nickel and
nickel alloy
1 Scope
This document specifies the designation and chemical composition of wrought nickel
and nickel alloy.
This document applies to nickel and nickel alloy products produced by press working
and to ingots and billets used therefor.
2 Normative references
There are no normative references in this document.
3 Terms and definitions
There are no terms and definitions that need to be defined in this document.
4 Designation and chemical composition
4.1 The designations and chemical compositions of nickel and nickel alloys shall
comply with the requirements in Table 1.
4.2 The content of each element in "chemical composition (mass fraction)" in Table 1
is in the range of matrix element or alloy element. If the element content is a single
value, except for Ni+Co which is the minimum limit, the others are the maximum limit.
When the Co content is not specified, its content is allowed to be no more than 1.5%,
which is counted as the nickel content. The elements corresponding to "—" in Table 1
shall not be tested unless there are special requirements.
4.3 The mass fraction of the allowance in Table 1 is the difference between 100% and
the sum of all clearly required element contents in the table.
4.4 The sum of impurities in Table 1 is the sum of the measured values of non-matrix
elements and non-alloy elements listed in the table.
4.5 For the comparison of the nickel and nickel alloy designations included in this
document with the corresponding designations in domestic and foreign standards, see
Annex A.
