Tin-coated copper-clad steel
wire for electronic products
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the classification and type, requirements, test methods,
inspection rules, packaging, product marking, transport, and storage, etc. of tin-
coated copper-clad steel wire for electronic products.
This Standard applies to the tin-coated copper-clad steel wire for electronic
products which takes copper-clad steel wire as base wire.
2 Normative references
The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document.
For the dated references, only the versions with the dates indicated are
applicable to this document. For the undated references, the latest version
(including all the amendments) are applicable to this document.

is less than the specified value and the breaking point appears within 25 mm
from the chuck of tester or the gauge length of extensometer, the data is invalid;
and the test shall be repeated.
5.5 Reverse bend
The number of reverse bend of tin-coated copper-clad steel wire shall be tested
in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 4909.5-2009.
5.6 Coating thickness
The coating thickness of tin-coated copper-clad steel wire shall be measured in
accordance with the provisions of GB/T 6462-2005. Other measuring methods
agreed upon by both supply and demand sides can also be used.
5.7 Continuity of coating
The continuity of coating of tin-coated copper-clad steel wire shall be tested in
accordance with the provisions of Procedure a) in 5.5 of GB/T 4909.9-2009.
The test piece shall be subjected to two immersion cycles.
5.8 Adherence of coating
The adherence of coating of tin-coated copper-clad steel wire shall be tested in
accordance with the provisions of GB/T 4909.11-2009. The test piece shall be
wound on a test rod which does not exceed 4 times the nominal diameter of the
wire. The test piece after being wound is subjected to one-cycle immersion test.
5.9 Solderability
The normal solderability of tin-coated copper-clad steel wire shall be tested in
accordance with the provisions of GB/T 2423.32-2008 and the following
detailed rules.
a) Test piece preparation. On each coil (shaft) of sample drawn in the
specified number, CUT off 2 test pieces with a length of about 30 mm. The
test piece shall not be touched by hand or contaminated, and before the
test, shall not be cleaned.
b) Test conditions. The solder is Sn96.5Ag3.0Cu0.5. The soldering flux is
prepared with 25% of rosin and 75% of ethyl alcohol. The test temperature
is (245±3)°C.
c) Test parameters. The immersing depth is 3 mm. The immersing speed is
20 mm/s. The immersing duration is 5 s.
d) Test result. On the automatically-recorded wetting curve, TAKE the
than 3 coils (shafts). When the batch is large, it shall not be more than 10 coils
(shafts). The test piece shall be cut off from each sample unit (coil or shaft).
6.4 Determination rules
If all inspections are qualified, the inspection batch shall be qualified. When
there is an unqualified item, it shall take double the number of samples for the
second inspection of the unqualified item; if there is still nonconformity, the
batch of products shall be judged as unqualified.
7 Packaging, product marking, transport, and storage
7.1 Packaging
Tin-coated copper-clad steel wire shall be evenly and neatly wound around the
wire coil (shaft). The wire end shall be firmly fixed. Proper distance shall be
maintained between the outermost wire turn and the edge of side plate of wire
coil.
Each coil (shaft) of wire shall be wrapped with Kraft paper and then packaged
in a plastic bag containing desiccant, and then loaded into a barrel (box) lined
with moisture-proof paper.
7.2 Product marking
Each coil (shaft) of tin-coated copper-clad steel wire products shall be
accompanied by a label, which indicates.
a) Name of manufacturing enterprise (with bar code attached);
b) Type and specification;
c) Gross weight and net weight (kg);
d) Production date (year and month, or batch number);
e) This Standard’s number.
7.3 Transport
The product, during transport, shall be protected from wet oxidation and
corrosion.
7.4 Storage
The product shall be stored in a dry, ventilated, non-corrosive media and
hazardous gas warehouse. The storage time shall not exceed half a year.
