1 Scope
This Standard specifies the classification, designation, ordering information, shape,
dimension, technical requirements, test method, inspection rule, packaging, marking
and quality certificate of cold drawn shaped steel tubes.
This Standard is applicable to cold-drawn simple-section shaped tube (hereinafter
referred to as steel tube).

3 Classification and Designation
Classification and designation of steel tubes according to section shape are as
follows.
4 Ordering Information
The contract or order for ordering steel tubes according to this Standard shall include
but not limited to the following contents.
5 Shape, Dimension and Weight
5.1 Shape and dimension
The shape and dimension of steel tube shall respectively meet the requirements of
Figures A.1~A.6 and Tables A.1~A.6 in Appendix A. As negotiated by the supplier and
the purchaser, steel tube with shape and/or size beyond those specified in Figures
A.1~A.6 and Tables A.1~A.6 in Appendix A may be supplied.
5.3 Side unevenness
Side unevenness of steel tube shall meet those specified in Table 2.
5.4 Radius of outside corner
The radius (R) of each outside corner of the section shall meet those specified in
Table 3.
5.5 Curvature
Curvature of steel tube shall meet those specified in Table 4.
When the curvature grade of steel tube is not indicated in the contract by the
purchaser, it shall meet the requirements of ordinary grade precision. The high grade
dimensional precision, when required by the purchaser, shall be indicated in the
contract.
5.6 Twist value
The steel tube shall be free from visible twist. The twist values of square steel tube,
rectangle steel tube and rectangular trapezoid steel tube shall meet those specified in
Table 5.
5.7 Length
5.7.1 General length
The general length of steel tube is 2000~9000mm.
As required by the purchaser, steel tube with length beyond those specified may be
supplied upon negotiation between the supplier and the purchaser and when
indicated in the contract.
5.7.2 Specified length and multiple length
5.8 End shape
End faces on both ends of steel tube shall be vertical to the axis of steel tube, and the
burr on notch shall be removed.
5.9 Weight
The steel tube is delivered according to actual weight. When indicated in the contract,
it may also be delivered according to the theoretical weight. See Appendix A for the
calculation formula of theoretical weight (with steel density of 7.85 kg/dm3).
6 Technical Requirements
6.1 Designation and chemical composition of steel
6.1.1 For quality carbon structural steels with designations of 10, 20, 35 and 45, the

6.2.1 Steel tube shall be manufactured of seamless steel tube through cold-drawn
forming.
6.2.2 As required by the purchaser, steel tube may be manufactured of welded steel
tube through cold-drawn forming upon negotiation between the supplier and the
purchaser and when indicated in the contract. The weld of cold-drawn welded steel
tube shall be kept away from round corner.
6.3 Delivery state
The steel tube shall be delivered in cold-drawn state. As required by the purchaser,
the steel tube may be delivered in heat treatment state upon negotiation between the
supplier and the purchaser and when indicated in the contract.
6.4 Mechanical performance
6.4.3 For structural alloy steel tube with perimeter not less than 240mm and wall
thickness not less than 10mm, the impact absorbed energy of standard specimen
shall meet the requirements of GB/T 3077.
6.4.4 The sampling position for mechanical performance test of cold-drawn welded
steel tube shall be within the base material area.
6.5 Surface quality
6.5.1 The internal and external surfaces of steel tube shall be free from crack, fold,
scab, creasing and delamination. These defects shall be completely removed with
removed depth not exceed the negative deviation of nominal wall thickness. The
actual wall thickness of the removal point shall not be less than the permissible
minimum deviation of the wall thickness.
6.5.2 Other local defects not exceed the negative deviation of wall thickness are
permissible.
6.5.4 Cold-drawn welded steel tube shall be free from lap welding and over-burning.
The outer burr of steel tube weld shall be cleared with residual height not greater than
0.5mm; inner burr of steel tube weld is permissible. As required by the purchaser, the
inner burr may be specially specified upon negotiation between the supplier and the
purchaser and when indicated in the contract.
7 Test Methods
7.1 The dimension and shape of steel tube shall be measured piece by piece with
measuring instrument of required precision. The measurement method of twist value
shall meet the requirements of Appendix B.
7.2 Internal and external surfaces of steel tube shall be visually inspected piece by
piece under sufficient lighting condition.
7.3 Sampling method and test method for other inspection items of steel tube shall
meet those specified in Table 8.
8 Inspection Rules
8.1 Inspection and acceptance
Inspection and acceptance of steel tube are carried out by the supplier's
quality-technical supervision department.
8.2 Batching rules
8.2.1 Inspection and acceptance are carried out for steel tubes according to
batches.
8.2.2 Each batch shall be composed of steel tubes of the same designation, furnace
