1 Scope... 4 2 Packing... 4 3 Marking... 6 4 Quality Certificate... 7 Forward This Standard replaces GB/T2104-1988 "Steel Wire Ropes - Packing, Marking and Certification - General Requirements". Compared with GB/T2104-1988, the main changes in this Standard are as follows. - The package of disc spool was improved; - The distance which was not greater than 150mm from the internal wheel rim for the place to bundle up the metal wire or plastic packing strip two strings was changed as 200mm; - Production license number was added in marking and packing; - Attached Table 1 was deleted. This Standard was proposed by China Iron and Steel Association. This standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Standardization Technical Committee of steel. Chief Drafting Organizations of this Standard. Shanghai No.2 Steel Co., Ltd. and Guizhou Steel Wire Rope Group Co., Ltd. Chief drafting staffs of this Standard. Steel Wire Ropes - Packing, Marking and Certificate - General Requirements

1 Scope

This Standard specifies items such as packing method, marking and quality certificate for steel wire ropes. This Standard is applicable to general requirements on packing, marking and quality specification of steel wire ropes. If there are specific requirements in the product standard or from the demander, it shall be implemented according to corresponding requirements.

2 Packing

2.1 Generally, each piece of steel wire rope shall be individually packed. 2.2 Packing methods include the following three methods. The packing type shall be indicated in the Contract. If unindicted, it shall be selected by the supplier. 2.2.1 Method I. packing without disc spool Materials such as galvanized wire (or low carbon steel wire), steel strips or those without influence on the surface quality of steel wire ropes and that meet the requirements of bundling shall be adopted to bundle up the steel wire ropes firmly and uniformly; damp-proof materials shall be adopted to pack and wind them tightly. Metal wires (strips) are adopted to fasten the ends of packing materials; finally galvanized wires (or low carbon steel wires), steel strips or plastic packing strips are adopted to bundle up the steel wire ropes firmly and uniformly; whether transversal or longitudinal bundling (See Figure 1) to be adopted shall be considered according to sizes and weight of steel wire rope coils. 2.2.3 (Box) Packing 2.2.3.1 Packing shall be carried out firstly according to those specified in 2.2.1 or 2.2.2 and then steel wire ropes are packed into dry and clean bucket (box); the bucket (box) shall be sealed tightly for the purpose of anti-dirt or damp-proof. 2.2.3.2 As for packed steel wire ropes in coils on which there is requirements, after single piece is attached with labels, multiple pieces are allowable to be in the same bucket (box); as for steel wire ropes in nude packing, damp-proof materials shall be added in the bucket (box).

3 Marking

The external package of steel wire ropes shall be accompanied with firm and clear plates and the following items shall be indicated on them.

4 Quality Certificate

The delivered steel wire ropes shall be accompanied with quality certificate with the following items indicated in it. ......
