Foreword
This Standard serves as a replacement of GB 8537-2008 Drinking Natural Mineral
Water.
In comparison with GB 8537-2008, this Standard has the following main changes.
---The requirements of water sources are modified;
---The sensory requirements are modified;
---The boundary indexes are modified;
---The limit indexes are modified;
---The microbial limit is modified;
---Some requirements in the clause of marking are deleted.

Drinking Natural Mineral Water
1 Scope
This Standard is applicable to drinking natural mineral water.
2 Terms and Definitions
2.1 Drinking Natural Mineral Water
Drinking natural mineral water refers to water, which naturally surges out from deep
underground or is gathered through well drilling; which contains a certain amount of
mineral substances, trace elements or other ingredients; which is uncontaminated in a
certain area or adopts precautionary measures to prevent from contamination.
2.1.1 Gas-containing natural mineral water
Gas containing natural mineral water refers to natural mineral water, which allows the
elimination of unstable components through the methods of aeration, decantation and
filtration in the processing technology, allows recycle and filling of homogenous carbon
dioxide on the premise of not changing the basic characteristics and main component
content of drinking natural mineral water. After packaging, at normal temperature and
pressure, there shall be visible natural release and bubbles generated by
homogeneous carbon dioxide.
2.1.4 Degassed natural mineral water
Degassed natural mineral water refers to natural mineral water, which allows the
elimination of unstable components and carbon dioxide in water through the method
of aeration, decantation and filtration in the processing technology on the premise of
not changing the basic characteristics and main component content of drinking natural
mineral water. After packaging, at normal temperature and pressure, there shall be no
visible natural release of carbon dioxide.
3 Technical Requirements
3.1 Requirements of Raw Materials
Source water shall naturally surge out from deep underground or shall be collected
through well drilling.
3.2 Sensory Requirements
Sensory requirements shall comply with the stipulation in Table 1.
3.3 Physical and Chemical Indexes
3.6 Food Additives
The usage of food additives shall comply with the stipulation in GB 2760.
4 Others
4.1 Pack water near water sources; source water shall not be transported with a
container or canned in a different place.
