22 Terminologies
2.0.1 City gas
The gas fuel, coming from the gas source, transported by the fuel gas supply system of
the town or residential area, used for production and life and conforms to the quality
requirements of this Code.
2.0.2 City gas facilities
Different kinds of facilities (including accessory safety device thereof) and used for city
gas production, storage, transport and supply.
2.0.3 Sort of gases
According to g fuel gas source or fuel gas combustion characteristics indices, fuel gas is
divided into different categories.
2.0.4 Interchangeability of gases
If the gas burning equipment is designed according to a fuel gas(benchmark gas), then
the s fuel gas is used,( displacement gas), if gas burning equipment can work soundly without
adjustment to the burner, then s fuel gas possess exchangeability for a fuel gas.
2.0.5 Design working life
If the conduit, structure or member can reach the service-time limit without overhaul, the
service-time can be called design working life.
2.0.6 Regulator box
The facility containing regulator device and be in charge of the air pressure control. This
includes regulator device and cabinet.
2.0.7 Regulator station
The building containing regulator device and be in charge of the air pressure control.
This includes regulator device, building and structure.
2.0.8 Regulator device
It is a kind of equipment unit that lower the high fuel gas pressure to the required low
pressure. This includes regulator and its auxiliary facility.
2.0.9 Gas burning appliance
Burning appliance use the gas as the fuel, for short, gas burning appliance. This include
fuel gas water heater, fuel gas hot-water stove, fuel gas oven, fuel gas roaster, and fuel gas
warmer.
2.0.10 gas burning equipment
Fuel gas industrial furnace use the fuel gas for heating or freezing, the gas boiler, fuel gas
combustion engine and the relatively large equipments.
2.0.11 accessory safety device
If there is something wrong with the fuel gas supply system or the fuel gas leak, there are
devices that may cut off fuel gas, give alarm and the annunciator for fuel gas. The devices
mentioned above are called the accessory safety device.

33 Requirements for basic performance
3.1 Requirement for the basic performance of fuel gas facilities
3.1.1 Construction of city gas facilities shall conform to town and country planning and fuel
gas professional planning.
3.1.2 As for the site selection and pipeline selection, principles of optimal land utilization and
effective use of soil and space shall be complied with, which shall be determined by the
conditions like engineering geology, hydrology, weather and peripheral environment. Large
fuel gas facilities shall be on the fringe of town or in the independent safety zone.
3.1.3 City gas supply system shall be with reliable gas source and the facilities for the safety
of users as well as reasonable air supply parameter shall be guaranteed.
3.1.4 There shall be normative, distinct safety cautions markings with the important fuel gas
facilities and risky operation location.
3.1.5 Within the design working life, city gas facilities shall be guaranteed to work soundly
and reliably. If the design working life is reached or the facilities encounter the severe
disasters, evaluation shall be carried out on it.
3.1.6 Construction, operating maintenance and use of city gas facilities shall guarantee the
personal and public safety.
3.1.7 As for the construction, operating maintenance and use of city gas facilities, measures
shall be adopted to reduce pollution, and treat the pollutant according to current national
environment protecting standard.
3.1.8 3.1.6 construction, operating maintenance and use of city gas facilities shall be able to
effectively use the energy and water resources.
3.1.9 As for the region whose quake intensity is six degree and above six degree, construction
of fuel gas facilities must adopt aseismatic measures.
3.1.10 Within the security protection scope of fuel gas facilities, activities that may damage
and endanger the safety of fuel gas facilities shall be prohibited.
3.1.11 Operating maintenance of city gas facilities shall be carried out by relevant
organizations and according to complete safety in production and operational guidance
system.
3.2 Admit principle
3.2.1 City gas facilities must use materials and equipments whose quality passes the test,
furthermore, relevant standards shall be met.
3.2.2 If the construction of city gas facilities adopts new technology, new technique and new
materials that fail to meet engineering construction mandatory standard that shall be approved
through relevant procedures.
3.2.3 When the city gas engineering construction completed, acceptance shall be proceeded
according to the procedures, it can only be used when it get the qualification.
55 Fuel gas station
5.1 General requirements
5.1.1 This chapter is applicable to production, purification, acceptance, store up, filling and
air entrainment.
5.1.2 Design life of the fuel gas station shall be confirmed by the design unit and construction
unit and meet relevant national regulations, but the design life of major building and structure
in the gas station and plant shall not be less than 50 years; safe class of building and structure
shall conform to requirement of relevant national standard.
5.1.3 Technological process of the plant and station shall conform to the requirements of safe
and stable air supply system.
5.1.4 Air reserve cubage of the plant and station shall be determined according to the
emergent requirement of air supply, peaking, deployment and the mixture of gas.
5.2 Arrangement of the station area
5.2.1 Selection of the location of the plant and station shall be according to the peripheral
environment, geology, communication, water supply, power supply and communication;
system design requirement shall also be met.
