Foreword
All technical contents in this Part of GB 4706 are mandatory.
This Part equivalently adopted IEC 60335-2-79:1995 Household and Similar Electrical
Appliances – Safety – Part 2: Particular Requirements for High Pressure Cleaners and
Steam Cleaners, for Industrial and Commercial Use. (1995) Version I, No.1
Amendment (2000).
This Part shall be used in conjunction with GB 4706.1-1998 Safety of Household and
Similar Electrical Appliances - Part 1: General Requirements.
The clearly-written “Applicable” part in this Part indicates that the corresponding
clauses and sub-clauses in GB 4706.1-1998 are applicable; the clearly-written
“Replacement” part in this Part shall be subject to the clauses and sub-clauses in this
Part; the clearly-written “Modification” part in this Part indicates the relevant contents
of the corresponding clauses and sub-clauses in GB 4706.1-1998 shall be subject to
the modified contents of this Part, while other contents of such clauses and sub-
clauses are still applicable; the clearly-written “Addition” part in this Part indicates in
addition to conform to the corresponding clauses and sub-clauses in GB 4706.1-1998,
it also conforms to the additional clauses and sub-clauses in this Part.
In order to be consistent with the provisions of the international Electrotechnical
Commission (IEC), the pressure units in this Part retain the pressure unit (bar) in the
original document and enclosed in the brackets as adopt the Internal System of Units
(Pa), and the former (bar) is placed after the latter (Pa).
Additionally, in order to comply with the national symbol usage rules, use the symbols
to modify the formula in the original text of 22.106 in this Part as follows: modify the
original formula “ where: W is outlet speed of water, m/s; ΔP is rated
pressure, bar.” into “ where: v is outlet speed of water, m/s; ΔP is rated
pressure, Pa.” Thereof, the Coefficient 200 is modified into 200/105=0.002 according
to the unit change of rated pressure. Similarly, modify the original formula in 22.106 of
“ ” into “ ”; while the formula in the original text of “ ”
is modified into “ ” (torque symbol T is replaced by M).
The non-heading bold in the text of this Part is defined in Clause 2.
The appendix attributes of this Part shall be subject to the provisions of appendix
attributes in GB 4706.1-1998.
The additional sub-clauses, notes and figures in this Part shall be started numbering
from 101.
This Part was proposed by China Light Industry Council.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of Commercial Electric Dietary Processing
Service Equipment Subcommittee of National Technical Committee for
Standardization of Automatic Electric Control for Household.
Drafting organizations of this Part: Beijing Service Machinery Research Institute, and
Zhejiang Gongshang University.

Cleaners, for Industrial and Commercial Use
1 Scope
This clause of GB 4706.1-19981 is applicable except as follows:
Addition:
This Part applies to high pressure cleaners having a pressure not less than 25 × 105
Pa (25 bar) and not more than 250 × 105 Pa (250 bar) with an input to the drive for the
high-pressure pump not exceeding 10 kW. It also applies to steam cleaners having a
usable volume of the water container equal to or greater than 1.5L even if the pressure
is less than 25 × 105 Pa (25 bar).
This Part also applies to fixed appliances within the limits of the previous paragraph.
It is also applicable to appliances making use of other forms of energy for the motor;
but it is necessary that their influence is taken into consideration.
Modification:
Replace the first two dashed paragraphs of note 3 by:
- appliances that are incorporated in process equipment;
- appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as
