Safety Regulations for Dust Explosion
Prevention in Feed Processing System
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the basic requirements for dust explosion prevention in feed
processing system.
This Standard is applicable to the design, construction, operation and management for
dust explosion prevention in feed processing system.
2 Normative References
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Standard through
reference in this Standard. For dated references, the subsequent amendments
(excluding corrigendum) or revisions do not apply to this Standard, however, parties
who reach an agreement based on this Standard are encouraged to study if the latest
versions of these documents are applicable. For undated references, the latest edition
of the referenced document applies.

4.4 The ventilation and dust removal, vent explosion, explosion prevention facilities
shall not be removed, altered and discontinued without the consent of the competent
department.
4.5 Unproductive open-flame shall be eliminated from the system; while the feed
processing workshop shall not store the flammable, explosive materials.
4.6 The device that is used for removing the metal impurities and other debris from
the materials shall be installed before the grinding system.
4.7 When the system is being operated and needs to conduct the maintenance work,
the explosion prevention hand tools shall be used.
4.8 The heat-resistant surface shall meet the following requirements.
--- The drying equipment shall use the heat insulation layer;
--- All equipment’s bearings shall be dust-proof and sealing, in good lubrication state.
4.9 The anti-static grounding shall meet the requirements of GB 15577.
4.10 The cleaning of accumulative dusts shall conform to the following provisions.
--- Regular cleaning system shall be established; timely clean the accumulative
dusts on the rotation and heating positions of the feed processing equipment;
--- The negative pressure dust absorption device shall be used to perform the
cleaning operation rather than using the compressed air.
4.1.1 Before maintenance and after the shutdown of the equipment within the feed
processing system, the equipment’s internal accumulative materials and external
accumulative dust shall be cleaned completely.
4.1.2 The explosion prevention safety inspection shall be performed regularly
according to the dust explosion prevention implementation rules and safety inspection
rules.
5 Naked-fire Job
5.1 During the system operating period, the naked-fire operation shall not be
performed.
5.2 Classify the fire prevention and explosion prevent work areas according to the
specific situations; make clear each area’s approval authority for the naked-fire
operations.
5.3 Before implementing the naked-fire operation, it shall be approved by the
6.2.4 The ground, wall and roof of the silos and feed processing workshop shall be
flat and easy to clean.
6.2.5 The fire resistance rating, number of floors, floor area, fire protection spacing,
evacuation passage for vent explosion and safety of feed processing workshop shall
conform to the relevant clauses of GB 50016.
6.2.6 The feed processing workshop and work tower for vertical silos shall establish
independent firefighting staircases; while the connecting door between the staircase
and workshop shall be set fire protection door.
6.2.7 As the explosion vent, the window shall adopt the open-to-outside type.
6.3 Fire protection and firefighting for general plane
6.3.1 When the feed processing workshop, raw material warehouse, auxiliary
material warehouse, finished product warehouse, and the like buildings ADOPT cluster
layout, then the feed processing workshop shall be set on one side or one corner of
the plane rather than in the center of the plane.
6.3.2 Ring-shaped firefighting passage shall be established around the feed
processing workshop and silos; the width of the passage shall be no less than 4m.
6.3.3 The pump adapters and fire hydrants on the ground shall be established near
the factory; the outdoor fire hydrant spacing shall be no greater than 120m; the number
of the fire hydrants shall conform to the relevant provisions of GB 50016.
6.3.4 Fire hydrant shall be established in the independent passage or near the
corresponding area in feed processing workshop, silo grain-inlet room, silo bottom
layer, finished product warehouse, raw material warehouse, auxiliary material
warehouse. The water amount used for outdoor firefighting shall conform to the
relevant provisions of GB 50016.
7 Electrical Design
7.1 Classification of hazardous zone of feed dust explosion
The classification of hazardous zone of feed dust explosion can refer to Table 1.
7.4.3 In the environment where there is explosive dust, the rated voltage of insulated
conductors and cables for low voltage power and lighting circuits shall meet the
requirements of GB 50058.
7.4.4 The selection of insulated conductors and cables in the explosive dust
environment shall meet the requirements of GB 50058.
7.4.5 When the electrical wiring in the dust explosion hazardous zone adopts
insulated cable, it shall use steel pipe wiring.
7.4.6 When laying by cable tray, the non-armored cable can be used and the
necessary anti-rat measures shall be taken.
7.4.7 The electrical wiring in the explosive dust zone is not allowed to have
intermediate connectors. When the electrical piping, cable tray penetrating the wall
and floor, the hole shall be tightly blocked by the non-flammable packing materials.
7.5 Lightning protection and grounding
7.5.1 The lightning protection and grounding design in the feed dust explosion
hazardous zone shall conform to the relevant provisions of GB 50057.
7.5.2 The lightning protection of feed processing workshop shall be performed as per
the secondary type of lightning protection buildings; while other builds shall be
performed as pe...
