Foreword
This standard replaces GB 10769-2010 National food safety standard - Cereal-based
complementary foods for infants and young children.
Compared with GB 10769-2010, the main changes of this standard are as follows.
-- The descriptions of the scope, terms, definitions and product classification are
modified;
-- The maximum values of some nutritional components are added;
-- Vitamin C is adjusted from an optional nutritional component to a basic
nutritional component, magnesium is added as an optional nutritional
component, and iodine is deleted from the optional nutritional components;
-- The content that honey shall not be used is added and the regulations on the
additive amount of sugar are revised;
-- General standards are used for pollutant limits, mycotoxin limits and pathogenic
bacteria limits;
-- The test method standard number is updated;
-- The packaging medium description is added.

1 Scope
This standard applies to cereal-based complementary foods for older infants and young
children aged 6~36 months.
2 Terms and definitions
2.1 older infants
People aged 6~12 months.
2.2 young children
People aged 12~36 months.
2.3 cereal-based complementary foods for infants and young children
It is a supplementary food made from one or more cereals (such as rice, wheat, millet,
barley, oats, rye, and corn) as the main raw material, with the cereal dry matter
accounting for 50% or more of the total dry matter, and with appropriate amounts of
nutritional enhancers and/or other food ingredients added, suitable for consumption by
older infants and young children aged 6~36 months.
3 Product classification
3.1 Cereal complementary foods for infants and young children
It can be consumed after being brewed with milk or other suitable liquids containing
protein, or it can be a cereal-based complementary food for infants and young children
in a ready-to-eat state.
3.2 High-protein cereal complementary foods for infants and young children
It is added with high-protein ingredients and is consumed after being brewed with water
or other suitable liquids that do not contain protein, or is a cereal-based complementary
food for infants and young children in a ready-to-eat state.
3.3 Raw cereal complementary foods for infants and young children
Cereal-based complementary foods for infants and young children that can only be
eaten after being cooked.
3.4 Other cereal complementary foods for infants and young children
Cereal-based complementary foods for infants and young children that can be eaten
directly or crushed and brewed with water (or milk or other suitable liquids) for
consumption, such as biscuits, teething sticks and others.
4 Technical requirements
4.1 Raw material requirements
The raw materials used shall comply with the corresponding safety standards and/or
relevant regulations. The food safety of infants and young children shall be guaranteed,
the nutritional needs of infants and young children shall be met, and substances that are
harmful to the nutrition and health of infants and young children shall not be used.
Hydrogenated fats shall not be used.
Irradiated raw materials shall not be used.
Honey shall not be used.
4.2 Sensory requirements
Sensory requirements shall comply with the requirements of Table 1.
4.3 Basic nutritional component indexes
The basic nutritional component indexes of the product shall comply with the
requirements of Table 2.
