1 Scope
This section specifies gas chromatography/electron capture detectors (GC/ECD) for polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers in electrical and electronic products.
Method.
This section applies to the determination of polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers in electrical and electronic products.
2 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this section.

The structural formula of polybrominated biphenyl is shown in Figure 1.

There are a total of 209 isomers of polybrominated biphenyls depending on the number and position of bromine atoms on the benzene ring.

3 Method summary
The sample was extracted by Soxhlet using toluene as the extraction solvent. The extract was purified, separated by silica gel column, concentrated, and processed by GC/ECD.
