1 Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining the content of saponin in tea saponin. This standard is applicable to the determination of saponin content in tea saponin exported from 30% to 70% saponin content.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this standard. 3.1 Also known as tea saponin or tea saponin, is a sugar compound extracted from the seeds of the Camellia plant, which is a saponin, which is a class of pentacyclic triterpenoids consisting of three parts, a saccharide and an organic acid. The product is usually a fine powder of white or light yellow or Brown liquid.

5 Principle of the method

The tea saponin is hydrolyzed by alkali and acid to produce saponin. The water-insoluble property is used to pour the hydrolyzate into water to precipitate. The quality of the saponin is converted into saponin content.

6 reagents and instruments

6.1 Reagents All reagents were of analytical grade and water was tertiary distilled water unless otherwise stated. 6.1.1 Methanol. 6.1.2 Hydrochloric acid (ρ=1.18g/mL). 6.1.3 Sodium hydroxide. 6.1.4 Acetone. 6.1.5 20% hydrochloric acid solution. 504 mL of hydrochloric acid (6.1.2) was weighed and diluted to 1000 mL with water. 6.1.6 sodium hydroxide methanol solution. Weigh 10g of sodium hydroxide (6.1.3), dissolve in 20mL of water, add 80mL of methanol (6.1.1) Mix well.
