Rainproof performance test method for mini truck
1 Scope
This document specifies the test conditions and test methods for the rainproof
performance for mini truck.
This document is applicable to mini truck. The category M1 vehicles and their variants,
which have a vehicle length of less than or equal to 3500 mm, can be implemented with
reference to it. This document does not apply to low-speed goods trucks.
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute the essential provisions of this
document through normative references in the text. Among them, for dated references,
only the version corresponding to the date is applicable to this document; for undated
references, the latest version (including all amendments) is applicable to this document.
GB/T 4780 Terms for motor vehicle body
GB/T 15089 Classification of power-driven vehicles and trailers
GB 18384 Electric vehicles safety requirements
3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 4780 and GB/T 15089, as well as the
following terms and definitions, apply to this document.
3.1
Mini truck
The N1 category vehicles, which have a length of less than or equal to 3500 mm and
a total mass of less than or equal to 1800 kg.
3.2
Rain proof performance
The capability of truck to close doors, windows, hatches to prevent rainwater from
entering the compartment or affecting the normal operation, when it is exposed to
bottom of the vehicle body shall be in the rain state.
4.2.2 See Appendix A for the rain shower arrangement, OR it may be specified
separately according to the requirements of the manufacturer.
4.2.3 The rain shower device shall ensure that the average raining intensity of the front
of the vehicle is (12 ± 1) mm/min; the average raining intensity of the side, rear, top,
bottom of the vehicle is (8 ± 1) mm/min. See Appendix B for the adjustment method of
the raining intensity. Regularly check whether the rain intensity meets the requirements.
5 Test method
5.1 Before the test starts, the vehicle fault code shall be cleared AND ensure that the
fault code does not appear again. The vehicle shall be warmed up (high beams and fog
lights need to be turned on) AND reach normal operating temperature.
5.2 Park the test vehicle at the designated location in the rainy field. Put the parking
brake in the braking state. Turn off the power system. Turn off the lighting device. Start
the air-conditioning fan. Switch it to the external circulation mode. Adjust the wind
speed to the highest gear. The test personnel enter the cabin AND close all doors,
windows, hatches.
5.3 Start the shower device. Start the test after the raining state is stable. The test time
is 15 minutes.
5.4 At 5 minutes after the start of the test, start to observe and record the leakage (such
as seepage, dripping, flow) of various parts of the passenger compartment.
5.5 After the rain is over, check whether the horn, lighting device, wiper work normally.
5.6 Check whether there is water in the door and sunroof.
5.7 For the luggage compartment and cargo compartment, it shall wipe off the
accumulated water at the seam of the luggage compartment or cargo compartment door
first; then open the luggage compartment or cargo compartment door; observe and
record the leakage of the luggage compartment or cargo compartment.
5.8 For electric vehicles, they shall meet the insulation resistance requirements, which
are specified in GB 18384.
5.9 Drive for 10 km normally. Then check it according to the following requirements:
a) Check whether there is a new fault code;
b) Check each lighting device for water and fog;
c) Check whether the windows and electric doors are working normally;
Appendix A
(Informative)
Rain shower
A.1 Rain shower requirements
The rain shower shall have 6 raining surfaces: front, rear, left, right, top, bottom. Each
rain surface shall be movable, to adapt to changes in the dimensions of different vehicles.
Flowmeters and flow regulating valves shall be provided, for the main pipelines of each
raining surface, respectively. The water supply pressure of the water pump shall be (150
± 10) kPa.
A.2 Nozzle arrangement
Install nozzles evenly on the branch pipes, on each rain surface. The lateral and
longitudinal spacing of the nozzles shall be 0.4 m. The number of nozzles shall ensure
that the parts to be inspected on the outer surface of the corresponding body are all in
the raining area. The axes of the top and bottom nozzles are perpendicular to the
horizontal plane; the axes of the front and rear nozzles are parallel to the longitudinal
symmetrical plane of the vehicle; the axes of the side nozzles are perpendicular to the
longitudinal symmetrical plane of the vehicle. The nozzles are perpendicularly towards
the corresponding vehicle. The bottom nozzle shall be located 0.2 m below the ground;
the distance between the other nozzles and the vehicle surface shall be (0.7 ± 0.2) m;
the nozzle water outlet shall be uniform and in the shape of a 60° solid cone; the
diameter of the spray hole shall be (2.5 ~ 3.0) mm; the size and internal structure of all
nozzles shall be the same.
