Foreword
This document was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020,
Directives for standardization - Part 1.Rules for the structure and drafting of
standardizing documents.
This document replaces GB/T 4008-2008 Ferromanganese-silicon. Compared with
GB/T 4008-2008, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main
technical changes of this document are as follows.
a) Adjust into three categories. micro-carbon ferromanganese-silicon, low-
carbon ferromanganese-silicon and straight-carbon ferromanganese-silicon
according to the different carbon content of ferromanganese-silicon (see
Chapter 4);
b) Modify the designation method of ferromanganese-silicon to the lower mass
fraction of manganese content and silicon content (see Chapter 4; 3.1.1 of the
2008 edition);
c) Adjust the number of designations of ferromanganese-silicon from 8 to 13 (see
5.1.1; 3.1.1 of the 2008 edition);
d) Adjust the requirements for carbon and phosphorus content of
ferromanganese-silicon (see Table 1; Table 1 of the 2008 edition);
e) Modify the requirements for particle size (see 5.2.1; 3.2.1 of the 2008 edition);
f) Add "Determination and re-inspection" (see Chapter 8);
g) Add the inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (see
Appendix C).
This document adopts ISO 5447.1980 Ferrosilicomanganese - Specification and
conditions of delivery by modification.
Compared with ISO 5447.1980, this document has lots of adjustments in structure. See
Appendix A for a list of structure number changes between the two documents.
This document contains many technical differences compared to ISO 5447.1980, which
are indicated by a single vertical line (|) in the outer margin of the clauses involved. See
Appendix B for a list of these technical differences and their causes.

Ferromanganese-silicon
1 Scope
This document specifies the classification, designation, technical requirements, test
methods, inspection rules, packaging, storage, transportation and storage, marking and
quality certificate of ferromanganese-silicon.
This document applies to ferromanganese-silicon used as alloying agent, composite
deoxidizer and desulfurizer in steel-making and casting, and as reducing agent in
smelting medium carbon ferromanganese, low carbon ferromanganese and micro
carbon ferromanganese.

The particle size of ferromanganese-silicon shall be tested in accordance with the
provisions of GB/T 13247.
7 Inspection rules
7.1 Batch
Ferromanganese-silicon shall be batched according to the designation content limit
requirements; the manganese content fluctuation range shall not exceed 3%; the
comprehensive sampling and test results of the same batch shall not be lower than the
lower limit requirements of the designation.
7.2 Sample collection and preparation
Collect and prepare samples for chemical analysis of ferromanganese-silicon in
accordance with the provisions of GB/T 4010.
7.3 Quality inspection and acceptance
The quality inspection and acceptance of ferromanganese-silicon shall comply with the
provisions of GB/T 3650.
7.4 Sampling and acceptance of particle size
The sampling and acceptance of ferromanganese-silicon particle size shall comply with
the provisions of GB/T 13247.
8 Determination and re-inspection
8.1 The quality of ferromanganese-silicon products shall be inspected by the supplier's
quality and technical department, and the inspection results shall be determined
according to the technical requirements.
8.2 If the buyer has any objection to the product quality, it shall raise the issue to the
supplier within 20 working days from the date of receipt of the goods, and both parties
shall jointly re-sample and re-inspect, and determine the quality based on the re-
inspection results.
8.3 If arbitration is required, the supplier and the buyer shall negotiate and jointly select
an arbitration institution, and submit the re-sampled samples to the arbitration
institution, and determine the quality by the results of the arbitration institution.
