This document replaces GB/T 17456.2-2010 "Zinc Coating of External Surfaces of Ductile Iron Pipes - Part 2.Zinc-Rich Coatings with Finishing Layers"
Compared with GB/T 17456.2-2010, the main technical changes in the "Layer" standard, apart from structural adjustments and editorial modifications, are as follows.
---The scope now includes references to GB/T 26081 and GB/T 43492, extending the application to include ductile iron for drainage engineering and precast thermal insulation.
Cast iron pipes, fittings and accessories (see Chapter 1);
---A new chapter on "Terms and Definitions" has been added (see Chapter 3);
---The quality requirements for zinc-rich coatings have been revised, and GB/T 43492 has been added as a reference, supplementing the requirements for prefabricated insulated ductile iron pipes and fittings.
Coating quality requirements for accessories (see 5.4, 4.4 in the.2010 edition);
---The reference standard for the test method of dry film thickness of the finishing coating has been changed to GB/T 13452.2 to adapt to my country's technical conditions and add [further details needed].

GB/T 17456 "Zinc-based coating on the outer surface of ductile iron pipes, fittings and accessories" specifies the finishing process for ductile iron pipes, fittings and accessories.
Prior to coating, the relevant requirements and test methods for zinc metal and zinc alloys, as well as zinc-rich coatings, must be established for zinc with a finishing coating.
The specifications for base-coated ductile iron pipes, fittings and accessories are detailed and are proposed to consist of two parts.

1.Scope
This document specifies the in-factory processing requirements for ductile iron pipes, fittings, and accessories as defined in GB/T 13295, GB/T 26081, and GB/T 43492.
Technical requirements and test methods for zinc-rich coating and finishing coating on the outer surface of the product.
This document applies to zinc-rich coatings with a finishing layer on the outer surface of ductile iron pipes, fittings, and accessories.

4.Materials
The zinc-based coating material should be an inorganic or organic zinc-rich coating with a dry film zinc content of not less than 85% (mass fraction), and the final coating should be asphalt.
Coatings or synthetic resin coatings compatible with zinc-rich coatings.
5.Zinc-rich coating
5.1 Substrate Surface Condition
5.1.1 The surface of the substrate of the pipe component should be dry, free of dust, and free of any loosely adhering particles or foreign substances, such as oil or grease.
5.1.2 The manufacturer may decide to apply the coating directly to the outer surface of the annealed pipe components, or to the outer surface after sandblasting, shot blasting, or grinding.
Zinc-rich coating.
5.2 Coating Method
5.2.1 Apply zinc-rich coating by spraying or brushing onto the outer surface of the pipe components.
5.2.2 The design and structure of the spraying equipment are not included in the scope of this document.
