Summary This standard specifies the occupational exposure assessment procedures and protection technical requirements that should be adopted by communication facility operation and maintenance personnel exposed to DC and power frequency electromagnetic fields (AC 50 Hz). It is intended for networks that may need to work at close range to DC and power frequency electromagnetic field emission sources. Operation and maintenance personnel provide practical work procedures and give technical requirements for occupational health risk assessment and risk management. This standard does not cover exposure to other electromagnetic fields other than DC and power frequency electromagnetic fields (AC 50 Hz), nor does it include exposure to contact currents due to the coupling of electromagnetic fields generated by power lines to other metal bodies (including communication circuits).
