Polybrominated biphenyls in electrical and electronic products
And determination of polybrominated diphenyl ethers
Part 1. High performance liquid chromatography
1 Scope
This section specifies the HPLC method for the determination of polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers in electrical and electronic products.
This section applies to the determination of polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers in electrical and electronic products.
2 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this section.
2.1
The structural formula of polybrominated biphenyl is shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1 Structure of polybrominated biphenyl
There are a total of 209 isomers of polybrominated biphenyls depending on the number and position of bromine atoms on the benzene ring.
2.2
The structural formula of polybrominated diphenyl ethers is shown in Figure 2.
Figure 2 Structure of polybrominated diphenyl ethers
There are a total of 209 isomers of polybrominated diphenyl ethers depending on the number and position of bromine atoms on the benzene ring.
3 Method summary
The sample was subjected to Soxhlet extraction using toluene as an extraction solvent, and the extract was subjected to concentration treatment and quantitative analysis by liquid chromatography.
4 reagents and materials
Unless otherwise stated, only analytically pure reagents and distilled or deionized water or water of comparable purity were used in the analysis.
4.1 Methanol. Chromatographically pure.
4.2 Disodium hydrogen phosphate.
4.3 Potassium dihydrogen phosphate.
