Determination of hexavalent chromium in electrical and electronic products
Part 3. Diphenylcarbazide spectrophotometry1 ScopeThis section specifies the spectrophotometric method for the determination of hexavalent chromium in diphenylcarbazide in electrical and electronic products.
This section applies to the determination of hexavalent chromium in electrical and electronic products.2 Method summaryThe alkaline leaching solution is used to extract the water-soluble and water-insoluble hexavalent chromium compounds in the sample, and the hexavalent chromium in the leachate is acidic.
The solution reacts with diphenylcarbazide to form a purple-red complex, which is spectrophotometrically determined at a wavelength of 540 nm.3 reagents and materialsUnless otherwise stated, only analytically pure reagents and distilled or deionized water or water of comparable purity were used in the analysis.
3.1 Nitric acid. excellent grade pure.
3.2 Sulfuric acid. excellent grade pure.
3.3 Sodium hydroxide.
3.4 anhydrous sodium carbonate.
3.5 Dipotassium hydrogen phosphate.
3.6 Potassium dihydrogen phosphate.
3.7 Potassium dichromate. reference material.
3.8 Diphenylcarbazide.
3.9 Acetone.
3.10 Sulfuric acid solution (1+9).
3.11 Nitric acid solution (5mol/L). Add 31mL of nitric acid (3.1) to 69mL of water and mix. Nitrate with brown smoke should not be used
Acid to prepare.
3.12 Leachate. Weigh 20.0g sodium hydroxide (3.3) and 30.0g anhydrous sodium carbonate (3.4), dissolve in water and transfer to 1000mL capacity.
Dilute to the mark in the bottle, shake well, transfer to a plastic bottle and store.
3.13 Buffer. Dissolve 87.09g dipotassium hydrogen phosphate (3.5) and 68.04g potassium dihydrogen phosphate (3.6) in water, transfer to 1000mL capacity
Dilute to the mark with water (this buffer pH = 7).
3.14 Standard storage solution of hexavalent chromium, 100mg/L. accurately weigh potassium dichromate (3.7) 0.2828g after drying at 120 °C for 2 hours.
After dissolving, transfer to a 1000 mL volumetric flask, dilute to the mark with water, and shake well.
3.15 hexavalent chromium standard solution, 5.0mg/L. Pipette 5.0mL standard stock solution (3.14) in a 100mL volumetric flask and dilute with water until
Scale and shake. Available when used.
3.16 Diphenylcarbazide (DPC) developer. Weigh 0.5g of diphenylcarbazide (3.8) dissolved in 100mL of acetone (3.9), stored in
In a brown bottle. When the solution fades, it should be reconstituted.4 equipment4.1 UV-visible spectrophotometer.
4.2 Oscillating water bath.
