Summary
This standard specifies the method for determining the acid value of petroleum and petroleum products by catalytic temperature titration. This standard applies to crude oil and petroleum products (such as distillate oil, paraffin wax, asphalt, lubricating oil base oil, etc.) that can be dissolved in a xylene-isopropanol mixed solvent. This standard can determine those acidic components in the sample that have a dissociation constant greater than 10[-9]. Very weak acids with a dissociation constant less than 10[-9] will not cause interference. The measurement results of this standard are not necessarily the same as those of other acid value measurement methods. The accuracy of this standard applies to samples with an acid value between 0.1 mg/g and 16 mg/g.
