This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents"

This document replaces LY/T 1589-2000 "Flower Terms". This revision has made structural adjustments, entry deletions, supplements and editorial
Compared with LY/T 1589-2000, the main technical changes are as follows.
a) A large number of common terms in other fields such as botany were deleted, and special terms in the field of flowers were added, reducing the number of terms from 746 to 344;
b) Comprehensive terms, flower morphology, flower soil and fertilizer, flower breeding, flower cultivation, flower decoration, flower maintenance and management, flower
8 chapters on protection, etc., are changed to basic terms, flower classification, flower breeding, flower cultivation, production and maintenance management, and flower products and

c) Changed the definitions of some terms;

This document defines basic terms specific to flowers and plants and those closely related to flowers.
This document applies to flowers and flower-related scientific research, teaching, production and trade.

3 Basic terminology
3.1
Flower ornamental plant
Ornamental plants
A general term for plants with ornamental value, whose ornamental value is manifested in organs or appendages such as roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits, as well as in their posture, shape,
Color and seasonal changes.
Note. Flowers in a broad sense include herbaceous and woody plants, while flowers in a narrow sense only include herbaceous plants.
