3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Land degradation
Due to the use of land or due to one or a combination of several forces, rain-fed land and irrigated land in arid, semi-arid and sub-humid dry areas
or the decline or loss of biological or economic productivity and complexity of grasslands, rangelands, forests and woodlands.

Wind erosion
The wind acts on the ground, causing the surface soil and sand particles to fly, jump, roll and accumulate, and resulting in the loss of fine particles in the soil.
3.3
Water erosion
The destruction, erosion, transportation and deposition of soil and its parent material or other ground components under the action of water such as rainfall and runoff.
process.
Note. Includes surface erosion, groove erosion, etc.
