3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Wrecked object at sea
Various types of floating rafts, persons, containers or other search targets or evidence that are missing or in distress are being sought in maritime search operations.
3.2
Total current
The vector sum of the various currents in the sea area where the target is located.
Note. Generally include tidal current, wind-driven current, density circulation, estuary runoff, etc.
3.3
Possible area
Within a certain period of time, the smallest area that contains the possible location of the target in a sea accident.
3.4
Drift trajectory
The movement path of the target in the sea crash under the action of sea wind, ocean current, sea wave and other environmental factors.
3.5
Last known location
The missing or distressed position obtained from the last sighting, report, or trajectory calculation.
