Natural stone test method
Part 9.By measuring the fundamental frequency of resonance
Determination of dynamic elastic modulus
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 9966 specifies the principles and instruments for determining the dynamic elastic modulus of natural stone by measuring the fundamental frequency of resonance.
Equipment, sample preparation, test procedures, test results and test reports.
This section applies to the determination of dynamic elastic modulus of natural stone.

3 Principle
The dynamic elastic modulus is calculated by measuring the fundamental frequency of natural stone resonance. There are two sample excitation methods for measuring the fundamental frequency of resonance
Formula. One is continuous excitation, the other is instantaneous excitation. Each excitation method causes the stone sample to vibrate longitudinally, and then determine the corresponding total
Vibration fundamental frequency.
4 Equipment
4.1 Continuous excitation mode equipment
4.1.1 Frequency generator with variable frequency. The minimum frequency range should be 20kHz.
4.1.2 For the transmitter and receiving sensor in contact with the sample, it is recommended to use adhesive materials (rubber, plaster, etc.) for slight fixation.
And the natural frequency of the receiver should be more than twice the fundamental frequency of the predicted sample resonance.
4.1.3 A device that can record or display the resonance of the sample.
4.1.4 Instruments and equipment that can accurately measure or calculate the fundamental frequency of the sample resonance. such as a frequency meter, the accuracy should not be less than 0.5%.
4.1.5 A working surface away from external vibration and easy to measure.
4.1.6 Rigid metal specimen support. the length is at least equal to the side length (b) or diameter (d) of the specimen section, and the width should be less than the specimen length (l)
5%; The support can be a column with a square or rectangular cross-section. If the sample is cylindrical, the support should have a notch. The position of support such as
