1 Scope

This part of GB/T 9966 specifies the principles of natural stone petrographic analysis, instruments and equipment, sample preparation, visual observation and description, microscopic Observation description, judgment, test report. This section applies to the petrographic analysis of natural stone.

2 Normative references

The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated reference documents, only the dated version applies to this article Pieces. 3 Principle

Through naked eye and microscope observation, determine the mineral composition, structure and structure according to the physical and optical properties of the minerals in the rock, and determine The petrological properties and facies of stone.

4 Equipment

4.1 Rock slicer. 4.2 Rock grinder. 4.3 Polarizing microscope.

5 Sample preparation

5.1 The sample should be of sufficient size to be able to represent the characteristics of the mineral to be tested, and one or more sample slices should be prepared, and the slices should be pasted on the glass. The glass slide is polished with 100μm~10μm grade alumina abrasive paste and processed to a thickness of (0.030 0.005) mm. 5.2 Normally, the sample size is 33mm×20mm. If the stone particles are larger, a larger size sample should be used, such as 75mm×50mm, or use multiple samples under normal conditions. If the rock exhibits anisotropic characteristics, use two parallel lines Clearly mark the direction of the anisotropic surface of the sample (such as bedding, foliation, etc.), and sample preparation should be carried out in each direction. 5.3 The sample should be selected with sufficient strength to avoid chipping during cutting. For samples with lower intensity, use injection refractive index Samples are made after reinforcement with about 1.54 resin (such as epoxy resin).

6 Visual observation description

The description of visual observation should include the following.
