This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 5705-1985 "Textile terminology (cotton part)", compared with GB/T 5705-1985, except for editorial repair
The main technical changes changed are as follows.
--- The standard name was changed to "textile textile product terminology";
--- Re-number and arrange the terms according to the recycled cotton, semi-finished products, yarns, fabrics, and inspection sub-chapters;
--- Removed the terminology related to fiber and its inspection, impurities, defects, and packaging acceptance in Chapter 1, "Materials" of the original standard, only retained

Textile cotton textile product terminology
1 Scope
This standard defines the terms and definitions of cotton textile recycled cotton, semi-finished products, yarns, fabrics and their inspection.
This standard mainly includes the following terms.
---Return cotton. all kinds of waste cotton produced during the cotton spinning process.
---Half-products. Products from clearing to spinning, including laps, slivers, rovings and spun yarns.
---Yarn. Finished yarns spun from cotton spinning equipment, including yarns and strands.
---Wool. Fabric made from cotton or cotton-based chemical fiber yarns, including woven and knitted fabrics.
--- Inspection. Performance test and defect terminology specific to cotton textile products.
This standard does not include raw material terms before entering the textile factory, nor does it include clothing, home textiles, etc. that are sewn from cotton fabrics.
Product terminology.
This standard applies to all types of cotton textile products.
Note 1. For terms related to cotton related raw materials, refer to GB/T 11951 "Textile Natural Fiber Terminology" and GB/T 32139 "Cotton Processing Terminology".
Note 2. For general terms of yarn, refer to GB/T 8693 "Marking of textile yarns". Generally, single yarn (singleyarn) is simply referred to as yarn, two or more yarns.
The strands formed after the combination and/or twisting are referred to as lines.
Note 3. Refer to GB/T 3921 (all parts) "Textile and textile material properties and test terminology", GB/T 24117 "Needle" for general properties and defects of textiles.
