1 Scope
This document describes the quarantine and identification methods for ergot.
This document is applicable to the quarantine and identification of ergot in plants and their products.

4 Basic information of ergot
Scientific name. ClavicepsTul.
English name. ergot
Taxonomic status. Fungi, Ascomycota, Ascomycotina, Pezizomyco-
tina, Sordariomycetes, Hypocreales, Clavicipaceae, Claviceps.
Asexual generation belongs to asexual fungi Deuteromycetes, Moniliales, Tuberculariaceae, and Meliaceae
SphaceliaLeveile. There are more than 40 species of ergot, the most common is Claviceps purpurea, which has the widest host range.
Transmission route. Plant disease residues, infected seeds, sclerotia, etc. are the main routes of long-distance transmission, and spores are caused by wind, rain or insects to invade again

5 Principles of the method
According to the morphological characteristics of ergot sclerotia, the morphology of colonies, hyphae, conidia, ascus shells, ascos and ascospores grown on the medium are combined
