1 Scope

This document specifies the use of combustion-ion chromatography (C-IC) for the screening analysis of fluorine, chlorine and bromine in polymers and electronic components. Appendix D provides The C-IC screening analysis procedure for iodine was developed. Note 1.Appendix A provides a combustion method for screening halogen (fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine) content in polymers and electronic parts using oxygen bomb combustion-ion chromatography. Note 2.Appendix B provides a combustion method for screening the halogen content of materials by combustion in a closed system containing oxygen (oxygen bottle combustion (Schoeniger flask)) method and subsequent ion chromatography analysis of the combustion products.
