General rules for isotope composition mass spectrometry
1 Scope
This standard specifies the general method for mass spectrometer analysis of elemental isotope composition in matter.
This standard applies to thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), gas stable isotope ratio mass spectrometry
The instrument (GSIRMS) type instrument measures the isotope composition.

3 Terms and definitions
GB/T 32267-2015, GB/T 34826-2017, JJF1005-2016 defined and the following terms and definitions apply to this
file.
3.1
Isotope isotope
Different atoms of the same element with the same number of protons, different numbers of neutrons (or different mass numbers).
3.2
Isotope ratio isotopicratio
The number of moles of two isotopes (3.1), or the number of atoms, or the number of ions.
3.3
Isotope abundance isotopicabundance
The percentage (%) of the isotope (3.1) atom in the total number of atoms of the element.
Note. Rewrite GB/T 32267-2015, definition 4.10.
3.4
Isotope composition isotopic composition
The proportion of each isotope (3.1) in an element expressed in atomic percent, and their sum is equal to 1.
Note 1. The isotope composition can be expressed in abundance and can also be expressed as a ratio or a delta value.
Note 2. The δ value refers to the relative difference between the isotope ratio of the sample given by mass spectrometry and the ratio of the standard sample, which can be expressed in thousands of steps (‰).
3.5
Concentrated isotope isotope-enrichedmaterial
Isotope (3.1) material obtained by enrichment.
Example. Commonly used enrichment methods include gas diffusion method, electromagnetic separation method, and the like.
