Laboratory determination of soil microbial respiration
1 Scope
This standard specifies the method for the determination of soil microbial respiration in aerobic and unsaturated soils. This method is suitable for the addition of substrates (substrate induction
Respiration) or no substrate (basal breath) under the conditions of oxygen consumption or the determination of carbon dioxide emissions.
This standard applies to the determination of soil respiration for the following purposes.
- determine soil microbial activity (see reference [3]);
To determine the effect of additives (nutrients, contaminants, soil amendments, etc.) on soil microbial metabolic intensity;
- determine soil microbial biomass (see reference [4]);
Determine metabolic entropy (qCO2).
