Foreword
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents".
Drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 22496-2008 "Corn Grits". Compared with GB/T 22496-2008, the only changes are structural adjustments and editorial modifications.
In addition, the main technological changes are as follows.
--Terminology and definitions have been changed (see Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of the.2008 edition);
--The classification has been changed (see Chapter 4, Chapter 4 of the.2008 edition);
--Added raw material requirements (see Chapter 5);
--The quality indicator requirements have been changed (see Table 1, Table 1 in the.2008 version).
--The "Hygiene Requirements" and "Authenticity Requirements" have been removed (see sections 5.2 and 5.3 of the.2008 edition);
--The testing method has been changed (see Chapter 7, Chapter 6 in the.2008 edition);
--The inspection rules have been changed (see Chapter 8, Chapter 7 of the.2008 edition);
--The labeling has been changed (see Chapter 9, Chapter 8 in the.2008 edition);
-- Packaging, storage, and transportation have been changed (see Chapter 10, Chapters 9 and 10 of the.2008 edition).

1 Scope
This document defines the terminology and definitions for corn grits, and specifies its classification, raw material requirements, quality requirements, inspection rules, labeling, and other related requirements.
The requirements for packaging, storage, and transportation are described, along with the corresponding inspection methods.
This document applies to degermed corn grits that are consumed or used as food ingredients.

3 Terms and Definitions
