This standard is modified to adopt EN12601.2001, mainly focusing on the protection of the safety of the operating personnel, which may be encountered by the operating personnel.
The hazards are classified and requirements for operational design, marking, test verification, etc. are proposed for each hazard.

Reciprocating internal combustion engine driven generator set safety
1 Scope
This standard specifies the reciprocating (RIC) internal combustion engine, AC (a.c.) generator and the control devices, switching devices and auxiliary equipment required for operation.
The safety requirements of generator sets composed of auxiliary equipment and voltages up to 1000V.
This standard applies to both land and marine generator sets. Not suitable for ocean-going van-type generator sets, offshore-powered generator sets
As well as aviation, driving units for land vehicles and locomotives. Special requirements for use in potentially explosive atmospheres are not specified in this standard.
The hazards associated with reciprocating (RIC) internal combustion engine driven generator sets are listed in Appendix A.
This standard is specified by reciprocating (RIC) according to the general requirements of EN292-1.1991 and EN292-2.1991+A1.1995.
